1. Miss Colombia Paulina Vega was crowned Miss Universe 2014. She was crowned at the final of 63rd edition of Miss Universe held in Miami, US. Vega, a 22-year-old student of business administration from Barranquilla, Colombia was crowned by Miss Universe 2013 winner Gabriela Isler of Venezuela.

मिस कोलम्बिया पौलिना वेगा को मिस यूनिवर्स 2014 का ताज पहनाया गया। उन्हें मियामी, अमेरिका में आयोजित मिस यूनिवर्स के 63वें संस्करण के फाइनल में ताज पहनाया गया था। बैरेंक्विला, कोलम्बिया से बिजनेस एडमिनिस्ट्रेशन की 22 वर्षीय छात्रा, वेगा को मिस यूनिवर्स 2013 की विजेता वेनेजुएला की गैबरिएला इस्लर ने ताज पहनाया।

2. Eminent cartoonist R.K. Laxman, who immortalised the hapless 'Common Man' with his devastating swipes at politicians but without malice, died at the age of 94 after suffering multi-organ failure.

कार्टून की दुनिया के सबसे चर्चित नाम आर. के. लक्ष्मण का निधन हो गया। 94 साल के लक्ष्मण लंबे समय से बीमार थे। पांच दशकों से अधिक समय से लक्ष्मण ने अपने कार्टून कैरेक्टर 'कॉमन मैन' के जरिए समाज के तमाम पहलुओं को उकेरा था। राजनीतिक मसलों पर उनके बनाए कार्टून बहुत मशहूर हुए थे।

3. US President Barack Obama announced investments and loans worth USD 4 billion by American agencies as part of measures to bolster trade with India. The visiting US President also said Overseas Private Investment Corporation will "support lending" worth about USD 1 billion to small and medium businesses across India in under-served rural and urban markets.

अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति बराक ओबामा ने भारत के साथ व्यापार बढ़ाने के उपायों के तहत 4 अरब डालर के निवेश व ऋण की घोषणा की। भारत की यात्रा पर आए अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति ने यह भी कहा कि ओवरसीज प्राइवेट इनवेस्टमेंट कारपोरेशन भारत में पिछड़े ग्रामीण एवं शहरी बाजारों में लघु व मध्यम उद्यमों को करीब एक अरब डालर की ऋण सुविधा प्रदान करेगी।

4. Goa hosted Indo-Russian Musical Festival ZimaFest at Candolim beach. The musical festival witnessed a confluence of Russian and Indian music.

गोवा ने केनडोलिम बीच पर भारत-रूस संगीत महोत्सव ज़ीमाफेस्ट की मेजबानी की। इस संगीत महोत्सव में रूसी और भारतीय संगीत का संगम देखने को मिला।

5. Major Mukund Varadarajan and Naik Neeraj Kumar Singh, the two army personnel who laid down their lives combating militants in Kashmir Valley, were awarded posthumously the highest peacetime military honour, the Ashok Chakra, by President Pranab Mukherjee. The awards were received by their wives at the 66th Republic Day celebrations, which was graced by Chief Guest US President Barack Obama.
कश्मीर घाटी में आतंकवादियों का मुकाबला करते हुए अपने प्राण न्योछावर करने वाले मेजर जनरल मुकुंद वरदराजन और नायक नीरज कुमार सिंह को राष्ट्रपति प्रणब मुखर्जी ने मरणोपरांत शांति के समय दिया जाने वाला यह सर्वोच्च सैन्य सम्मान, अशोक चक्र प्रदान किया। देश के 66वें गणतंत्र दिवस समारोह में इन सपूतों की पत्नियों ने सम्मान ग्रहण किया। इस मौके पर अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति बराक ओबामा बतौर मुख्य अतिथि मौजूद थे।

6. American President Barack Obama arrived in India on a three day visit to attend the 66th Republic Day of India's celebrations. During his visit India and America signed the civil nuclear agreement that would allow nuclear contracts to be signed between U.S. firms and India. The civil nuclear agreement signed between the two countries would allow commercialisation of the Indo-U.S. civilian nuclear deal that was signed in 2005.

अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति बराक ओबामा, भारत के 66वें गणतंत्र दिवस समारोह में भाग लेने के लिए तीन दिवसीय दौरे पर भारत पहुंचे। उनकी यात्रा के दौरान भारत और अमेरिका ने गैर-सैनिक परमाणु समझौता जिसके चलते अब दोनों देशों की कम्पनियाँ परमाणु ऊर्जा सहयोग पर संधि कर सकेंगी पर हस्ताक्षर करे। इस गैर-सैनिक परमाणु समझौते के होने से भारत-अमेरिका के बीच 2005 में हुए परमाणु समझौते के तहत परमाणु मुद्दे पर वाणिज्यिक समझौते की अनुमति दोनों देशों की प्राइवेट कम्पनियों को मिल सकेगी।

7. India and America signed 3 MoUs. These MoUs were signed by the representatives of United States Trade and Development Agency and the respective Chief Secretaries of State Governments of Uttar Pradesh (for Allahabad), Rajasthan (for Ajmer) and Andhra Pradesh (for Vishakhapatnam). As per the pacts, the U.S. will assist the cities in project planning, infrastructure development, feasibility studies and capacity building.

भारत और अमेरिका ने तीन समझौता ज्ञापनों पर हस्ताक्षर किए। इन तीन आशय पत्रों पर अमेरिका की वाणिज्य एवं विकास एजेंसी के प्रतिनिधियों तथा भारत के तीन राज्य सरकारों के मुख्य सचिवों ने हस्ताक्षर किए। इलाहाबाद के लिए उत्तर प्रदेश, अजमेर के लिए राजस्थान तथा विशाखापट्टनम के लिए आन्ध्र प्रदेश के मुख्य सचिव ने हस्ताक्षर किए। इस समझौते के तहत अमेरिका इन तीन स्मार्ट सिटी परियोजनाओं के नियोजन, मूलभूत संरचना के विकास, फीजिबिलिटी अध्ययन, इत्यादि में अपना सहयोग करेगा।

8. Top seed Saina Nehwal defeated the reigning World Badminton singles champion Carolina Marin (Spain) in the women’s singles final of the Syed Modi International Grand Prix Badminton Championships in Lucknow to win the title.

सर्वोच्च वरीयता प्राप्त भारत की साइना नेहवाल ने लखनऊ में आयोजित सैयद मोदी इंटरनेशनल ग्रां प्री बैडमिण्टन का महिला एकल का खिताब मौजूदा बैडमिण्टन विश्व चैम्पियन कैरोलीना मारिन (स्पेन) को हराकर जीत लिया।

9. 40-year old Alexis Tsipras took oath as Greece’s youngest Prime Minister, a day after his leftwing Syriza party swept to a sensational victory in the snap election held in the country. He was administered oath by President Karolos Papoulias.

40 वर्षीय एलेक्सिस सिपरस ने यूनान के सबसे युवा प्रधानमंत्री के रूप में शपथ ली। सिपरस की सिरीज़ा पार्टी ने चुनाव में कुल 300 में से 149 संसदीय सीटें जीतकर एक अप्रत्याशित जीत हासिल की। उनको राष्ट्रपति कारोलोस पापोउलिएस द्वारा शपथ दिलाई गई।

10. Union Government announced 104 Padma awards consisting of the 9 Padma Vibhushan, 20 Padma Bhushan and 75 Padma Shri on the eve of country’s 66th Republic Day.

भारत सरकार ने देश के 66वें गणतंत्र दिवस की पूर्वसंध्या पर कुल 104 पद्म पुरस्कार प्रदान करने की घोषणा की। इसके तहत 9 लोगों को पद्म विभूषण, 20 लोगों को पद्म भूषण और 75 लोगों को पद्मश्री प्रदान करने की घोषणा की गई।
